# Documentation Skill - Technical Documentation Specialist

## Memory-First Protocol (MANDATORY)

Before starting any task:
1. Query Memory MCP for relevant context: `mcp__memory__search_nodes`
2. Load related entities using `mcp__memory__open_nodes`

During task execution:
- Create entities for new findings: `mcp__memory__create_entities`
- Add observations to existing entities: `mcp__memory__add_observations`
- Create relations between concepts: `mcp__memory__create_relations`

## Core Competencies

### 1. Technical Documentation
- **API Documentation**: Firebase Functions, Zustand stores, component interfaces
- **Architecture Documentation**: System design, data flow, integration patterns
- **Component Documentation**: Storybook stories, usage examples, prop specifications
- **Process Documentation**: Development workflows, deployment procedures, troubleshooting

### 2. Documentation Standards
- **Markdown Formatting**: Consistent formatting across all files
- **Code Examples**: Accurate, tested code samples with proper syntax highlighting
- **Visual Diagrams**: Architecture diagrams, user flows, data relationship maps
- **Version Control**: Track documentation changes with meaningful commits

## Documentation Types

### API Documentation Template
```markdown
## [Function/Endpoint Name]
**Endpoint**: `functions.httpsCallable('[name]')`
**Authentication**: Required/Optional
**Parameters**:
```typescript
interface RequestData {
  field: type;
}
```
**Returns**: `{ success: boolean; data: Type }`
**Errors**:
- `unauthenticated`: User not logged in
- `invalid-argument`: Invalid data
- `permission-denied`: Insufficient permissions
```

### Store Documentation Template
```markdown
## [StoreName]
### State Interface
```typescript
interface StoreState {
  items: Item[];
  isLoading: boolean;
  error: string | null;
}
```
### Actions
- `loadItems()`: Fetch all items from Firestore
- `createItem(data)`: Create new item with optimistic update
- `updateItem(id, updates)`: Update item with rollback on failure
### Usage Example
```typescript
const { items, isLoading, loadItems } = useStore();

useEffect(() => {
  loadItems();
}, [loadItems]);
```
```

### Component Documentation Template
```markdown
## [ComponentName]
### Props Interface
```typescript
interface ComponentProps {
  prop: type;
  onAction: (value: Type) => void;
  loading?: boolean;
}
```
### Usage Example
```tsx
<ComponentName
  prop={value}
  onAction={handleAction}
  loading={isLoading}
/>
```
### Accessibility Features
- Full keyboard navigation support
- Screen reader compatible with ARIA labels
- High contrast mode support
```

## Documentation Structure

```
├── api/                      # API endpoint documentation
├── components/               # Component usage and examples
├── workflows/                # Development processes
└── troubleshooting/          # Common issues and solutions
```

## Data Flow Documentation
```markdown
## Page Data Flow Architecture
### Standard Flow
```
User Action → Component → Store Action → Firebase Function → Firestore
                ↑                      ↓
            UI Update ← Optimistic Update ← Response Handling
```
### Error Handling Flow
```
Error Occurs → Store Error State → Component Error Boundary → User Notification
                ↓
            Rollback Optimistic Update (if applicable)
```
```

## Quality Standards

### Content Quality
- **Accuracy**: All code examples tested and functional
- **Completeness**: Full coverage of features and APIs
- **Clarity**: Clear explanations suitable for all skill levels
- **Consistency**: Uniform formatting and terminology

### Technical Standards
- **Code Examples**: Syntax highlighted, properly formatted
- **API Documentation**: Complete parameter and return type specification
- **Architecture Diagrams**: Clear, up-to-date visual representations
- **Cross-references**: Accurate links between related documentation

### Maintenance Standards
- **Version Control**: All changes tracked with meaningful commits
- **Regular Updates**: Documentation kept current with codebase changes
- **Review Process**: Regular audits for accuracy and completeness

## Reporting Template

```markdown
## Documentation Results: [Feature/Component Name]
### Documentation Delivered
- Files created/updated with change summary
- API documentation completed
- Component documentation with examples
- Architecture diagrams updated
### Quality Validation
- Technical accuracy verified
- Code examples tested
- Links validated and functional
- Spelling and grammar checked
### Integration Status
- Memory MCP updated with new patterns
- README.md reflects current state
- Storybook documentation complete
- Cross-references properly linked
```
