# TUTOR SKILLS
A skill set that turns PDFs, docs, and codebases into structured Obsidian StudyVaults, then provides interactive quizzes with concept-level progress tracking.
## Overview
Two skills work together:
1. **tutor-setup** — Generates a StudyVault from source materials
2. **tutor** — Interactive quiz tutor with mastery tracking
```
Documents / Code (PDF, MD, HTML, EPUB, source code)
↓ (/tutor-setup)
Obsidian StudyVault (structured notes, dashboards, practice questions)
↓ (/tutor)
Quiz Session (4 questions per round, scoring, concept tracking)
↓
Progress Updates
```
## Skill 1: tutor-setup (StudyVault Generator)
Converts knowledge sources into a structured Obsidian StudyVault.
### Modes
- **Document Mode**: For PDFs, text files, web pages → generates concept notes, comparison tables, ASCII diagrams, practice questions
- **Codebase Mode**: For source code projects → generates onboarding vault with architecture overview, module notes, exercises
### Generation Phases (Document Mode: D1-D9)
1. Source Discovery — scan, extract, validate
2. Content Analysis — build topic hierarchy and dependency graph
3. Tag Standard — define tag registry
4. Vault Structure — create numbered folders
5. Dashboard — MOC, quick reference, exam traps
6. Concept Notes — structured notes with tables, diagrams, callouts
7. Practice Questions — active recall foldable blocks (8+ per topic)
8. Interlinking — cross-reference all notes with wiki links
9. Self-Review — validate against quality checklist
### Output Structure
```
StudyVault/
00-Dashboard/ # MOC + Quick Ref + Exam Traps
01-<Topic1>/ # Concept notes + Practice questions
02-<Topic2>/
...
```
## Skill 2: tutor (Interactive Quiz Tutor)
Works on any StudyVault generated by tutor-setup.
### Session Types
1. **Diagnostic** — broad assessment of unmeasured areas (⬜)
2. **Drill weak areas** — targeted practice on weak spots (🟥/🟨)
3. **Choose a section** — study any area on demand
4. **Hard-mode review** — challenge mastered material (🟩/🟦)
### Quiz Flow
1. Detect StudyVault and read learning dashboard
2. Present session options based on current mastery
3. Deliver 4 questions per round (4 choices each, no hints)
4. Grade answers and explain errors
5. Auto-update concept files and dashboard
### Progress Tracking
- 🟥 Weak: 0–39%
- 🟨 Fair: 40–69%
- 🟩 Good: 70–89%
- 🟦 Mastered: 90–100%
- ⬜ Unmeasured: no data
## Quick Start
```bash
# Install
npx skills add RoundTable02/tutor-skills
# Step 1: Generate StudyVault
cd ~/study-materials/
claude
> /tutor-setup
# Step 2: Start Quiz
claude
> /tutor
```
## Requirements
- Claude Code CLI or compatible agent
- Obsidian (recommended) for browsing generated vaults
