# Thank-You Note
## When To Use
Someone introduced you and you never told them how it went. Use it as soon as an introduction lands, and again when the work starts or does not. It answers: what do you thank them for, what may you tell them, and what can you give back?
## When Not To Use
If the introducer is a firm you have a standing arrangement with, also check the loop-closing rule in your Partner Agreement. If you only need a reminder date, log it in the Follow-Up Tracker. If the person you met asked you to keep the contact private, thank the introducer without any detail.
## Inputs
- Who introduced you, to whom, and when
- What happened next, and what the person you met agreed you may share
- Your Five-Minute Favor List
If you have none of this, I start from the introducer's name and "we spoke, thank you", and mark the output as a first draft.
## Approach
Thank the introducer and close the loop (a practitioner practice, described generically). An introducer lent you their name; the thank-you tells them it was safe to do so, and the later update tells them how it ended. The judgment is in what you leave out: the business of the person you met is theirs. The failure it prevents: the introducer who hears nothing for months, then learns the outcome from someone else, and quietly stops sending people.
## Workflow
1. Ask three questions: who introduced you to whom, what has happened so far, and what has the person you met agreed you may share?
2. Timing: you set the date, within days of the introduction (the method's wording; no number is claimed). Late is better than never; say so plainly if it is late.
3. What happened next: only what the person you met agreed to share. If nothing was agreed, the line is "we spoke, thank you". No fees, scope, problems or private details.
4. Pick one give back from your favor list, offered with no condition and no hint of "next time".
5. Claude gives 2 or 3 points for the note; you write it. No greeting, no sign-off, no assembled message.
6. Set the second reminder: update the introducer when work starts, or when it does not. A "no" outcome deserves an update too.
7. Log the introduction and the promise to update in your Personal CRM Log.
## Output Format
```markdown
# Thank-You Note
**Introducer:** [name] · **Introduced to:** [name] · **Introduced on:** [date] · **Thank by (you set):** [date]
## Points to write from
1. [what you thank them for, specifically]
2. [what happened next: only what [person you met] agreed to share, or "we spoke, thank you"]
3. [give back from your favor list, no condition]
## Not shared
- [anything the person you met did not agree to share]
## Your note
[your words, written from the points]
## Update promised
| What | When (you set) | Done |
|---|---|---|
| Work started or not | [date] | [ ] |
## Decision
You write and send the thank-you to [introducer] by [date], and the update when the outcome is known.
```
## Done When
- The thank-you date and the update date are set by you
- What happened next holds only what the person you met agreed to share
- The give back comes from your favor list and carries no condition
- The note is in your words, not assembled by Claude
## Quality Bar
- Specific thanks beat warm generalities
- No detail of the situation of the person you met reaches the introducer without their agreement
- A give back is never a payment for the introduction
- The update is sent whether the work starts or not
- You write the thank-you and send it yourself; nothing about the person you met is shared without their agreement.
## Next
Run net-personal-crm-log (Personal CRM Log) to log the introduction and the promise to update.
